Morning Sentinel Obituary:

Linda Jean Latham
JAY -- Linda Jean Latham, 61, of Jay, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in Jay, as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

She was born May 23, 1946, in Farmington, a daughter of Dennis B. and Lillian G. (Knowles) Wright. She received her education in Jay schools and was a 1964 graduate of Jay High School.

On Nov. 27, 1965, she married her sweetheart, Lloyd W. Latham in North Jay.

A devoted wife and mother, she also enjoyed working outside of the home and for many years was a floor lady at Norrwock Shoe in North Jay. She later was employed in the cafeteria and was in charge of the vending machines at Norrwock.

She also was employed by Friendly Home Toy Parties. Linda was well known, particularly by snowmobilers, for running the Snack Shack on Morse Hill. At the time of her passing, she was employed in the cafeteria of Verso Papers, Jay.

Linda enjoyed photography and giving away her artistic work to family and friends. She came from a musical family and devoted her volunteer efforts to helping at the Country Folk Music Theater in East Dixfield as well as volunteering her time at Channel 7. She and her husband were well-known for their love of music and for impressing folks with their polka dancing.

A very selfless person, she gave generously of her time and talents and always put other's needs before her own. She is remembered for her cooking and baking, dancing, photography and her willingness to always help a person or champion a cause.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lloyd, of Jay; one son, Danny Latham and his wife, Melodi, of North Jay and their daughter, Rachelle Peck and her daughter, Lila Peck, all of Jay; one daughter, Becky Haskell and her husband, Chuck Haskell, and their two children, Jessica and CJ, all of North Jay; one stepdaughter, Tammy Tryon and her husband, Phillip Tryon, and their three children, Lacy Tryon, Dyllon Barker and Shealee Jackson and her husband, Andrew, and their daughter, Haley Jackson, all of North Jay; her mother, Lillian Wright of North Jay; siblings Dennis "Chet" Wright and his wife, Donna, of North Jay, Debbie Farrington and her fiancé, Richard "Dick" Packard of Bean's Corner and Larry Wright of North Jay; several aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

She was predeceased by her father, Dennis Wright in 1989; her sister, Barbie Wright in 1961; her children, Scott Latham in 1966, and Rhonda Latham in 1967; and granddaughter, Nicole Haskell in 1987.

Family and friends are invited to call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wiles Remembrance Center, 136 High St., Wilton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home. Private family committal services will follow at Birchland Cemetery, North Jay.

The family suggests that gifts be given in her memory to establish a scholarship for local students pursuing an education in either photography or music c/o Jay High School, Attn.: Linda Latham Scholarship Fund, 31 Community Drive, Jay, ME 04239. On-line condolences may be sent to
